How to Miss a Childhood

It has been a day. A DAY I tell you. Therefore I am just going to pass along a link to a blogpost I read recently that really convicted me to consider how much I'm on my phone during the day. I rarely use it for Facebook or Instagram when I'm around Wilder, but I do use it to take a ton of pictures. Even though I'm using it to capture memories, this post made me think that by taking too many pictures I'm also missing out on moments too.

Every parent should read this blogpost and take it to heart. I can't tell you how many parents I see at the park who are just sitting on the sidelines staring at their phones while their children play and I'm sure we've all been guilty of it a time or two. The first part of the post -- How to Miss a Childhood -- will really make you think and the second part -- How to Grasp a Childhood -- was so sweet and poignant.

This post is focused on missing out on the lives of your children but really anyone who reads it can benefit by taking an honest look at their phone usage. Are you missing out on your spouse's life, your friends' lives, your own, by living mostly via the internet? Read it, think about it, act on it...

Hands Free Mama: How to Miss a Childhood

As for me, I have deleted Facebook and Twitter from my phone entirely so we'll see how that goes. Let me know what you think about the article. Or what you think about my lazy blogposting. Or how long you think I'll last without certain mobile apps.

  1. I tried the deletion thing and I totally failed. Clearly. Good luck. You've got running around to keep busy during the day-I believe in you!
